You are correct. I am with Boxer Rescue Canada, a couple of months ago a boxer was about to enter rescue, he jumped a fence and got hit by a car at his caregiver's home. His back leg and hip were shattered. We got him to a vet and were told only two vets did this type of surgury, Critical Care and another in Abbotsford. We are a very small rescue group and often, as others do, pay out of our own pockets. Somehow, some way, you make it happen. We scrambled to get the funds, raise funds etc. We did it, with the help of many other animal lovers. Bean now has plates and pins in his hip and knee. His surgury lasted four hours! He is back to trying to do the boxer wiggle. We were able to pay in installments, half and half. No way were we going to leave him to suffer. So far his bill is about $3000, but he has his leg and he is not languishing in a cell, suffering with an injury, slowly painfully dying becuase of "lack of funds."
