What about Lindy Schwartz's grandson's cat?

Mr Andrew opened the discussion about the Ginger Fund for Ms Stone and got the amazing promise that it was free if the owner couldn't afford to pay. Ms Stone said, "We do a means test but I have to tell you that if people just really have to get them done I’d rather just get them done, we see so many litters of kittens.... Okay if they come down and get the voucher from us we do ask if they are unable to make a donation then the voucher is free and they can take it to the vet and they don’t have to pay anything...."

This was such good news to Lindy Schwartz that she phoned the Victoria SPCA right away to ask for financial help to have her 19-year old grandson's kitten neutered. She was told the price was $35.00. When she mentioned that her grandson couldn't afford that and she thought it might be free for him, she was told, "no, it's not free - it's $35.00"

Ms Schwartz asked about vaccines and was told, "Oh no, we don't have anything to do with that."

Ms Schwartz was not only puzzled by this news, but disturbed by the unfriendly, unhelpful way it was given.
