Backwoods Boxer Breeder *PIC*

Backwoods Boxer Breeder (initials have been substituted for names)

"My name is JS and yesterday (Jan 2/07) my boyfriend and I went to look at
some Boxer puppies. This lady named BB had put an add on buysell.ca for
boxer puppies for $400 each. I called her and she told us to come meet her,
but that she had a "cabin" in the woods in Coquitlam because she couldn't
find a place to live with the dogs. We went to meet this lady and she came
out of the woods and we had to walk with her to the "cabin", as we get
closer I saw that the cabin was not that at all but actually was a shack
she had built out of plywood and plastic tarps, it was about 4 feet by 4
feet. It reeked of dog excrement and pee. she opened the door to the shack
and 5 huge boxer dogs came out and there was 10 puppies inside. The adult
dogs were so friendly and came right up to me and my boyfriend, but they smelled so
bad and their eyes were extremely saggy, which I've been told is a sign of
malnutrition. I walked inside the shack to see they puppies and my eyes
began to water from the smell, the ammonia was sooo bad, she wasn't cleaning
up after these dogs she was just letting the wood soak it up.
The puppies she
said were about 6 weeks, they were tiny for 6 weeks, they didn't have that
round puppy belly, and they had patches of fur missing all over them. They
didn't make any noise the whole time we were there which I know is not right,
puppies are usually so vocal. this lady was also living in this shack with
them but said she's not there all the time she's usually at her friend's house.
I made an excuse saying that me and my boyfriend had to go check our bank to see if
we had enough money to get one so we could leave, I couldn't hold my tears
back anymore. as we walked back to our car I started crying so hard, I have
never seen anything that sad in my life. I immediately called the SPCA in
Coquitlam and told them what had happened. and the lady there said to me,
"Oh I know who you are talking about we have been there before." I asked why
no one has taken these dogs yet and her excuse was that because they had
food and water....... I was shocked when she said this. Their food was in a
rusty cookie tray that looked like it had been sitting in the water for three
days and there wasn't even enough for one dog, and their water was a bucket
that collected rain outside. The lady from the SPCA said that she would put
a call in and for me to check back in a couple days."

The SPCA did attend the site and ordered that one of the pups be taken to a vet to have its health checked. We were told that the vet said the pup had a staff infection and prescribed anti-biotics for it. We tried to determine if the SPCA made BB buy antibiotics for all the pups. After AAS reported this matter to Marcie Moriarty, head of BC SPCA's cruelty investigations (see her title under the SPCA's press release about the Sylvia Judd conviction), the SPCA Inspector stopped telling JS anything. BB and the pups and the adult dogs have disappeared.

It's believed that BB has been in the woods in this area for about two years, breeding about four litters of pups a year. Other people reported BB to the SPCA. Lesa Ibarra of Boxer Rescue has bought whole litters of sick pups and made offers to BB to have her dogs neutered and spayed.

Why were Judd's dogs seized, but not BB's? Judd has to pay almost $12,000 to the SPCA. BB's shack would worth the price of a few sheets of plywood except that they are infused with the reek of urine and feces.

The pups and the mother dog were stuffed under the red bed stand....
