The final count down has begun as the Delta SPCA will be closing it's doors on Dec 31/04 and the newly formed Delta Humane Society will be taking over. Since the SPCA has already lost its contract in Delta, it has nothing more to lose by transferring dogs from other SPCAs and then letting Delta do its dirty work.
Volunteers and watchers need to be vigilant in keeping a close eye on every dog that is sent to Delta during these next 30 days. Since they are closing, what other possible reason could the SPCA have for sending more dogs to this facility? We know the SPCA doesn't have a rehab program, and Delta has shunned many of its volunteers, so now its dogs are getting even less attention.
What would be logical is if the SPCA was sending dogs away from the Delta SPCA, so that by Dec 31st they are empty.
What the SPCA didn't count on though, are the hundreds of pairs of eyes/ears in the BC animal welfare community who can see exactly what is really going on, and who won't stay silent about it.
