The practice of secluding the stray animals is not questioned. It is, however, very frustrating to the public that these animals are still visible yet not for adoption. This causes interruptions to staff and volunteers as they must constantly clarify why these animals are not for adoption and that the information about the date on which the animal will be released for adoption can not be give out.
Solution: Construction of a visual barrier to avoid possible selection of an animal from this area by a potential adoptee. Provide signage that completely explains why the animals in such sections are not available for viewing. Also avoid the use of the term “stray” which is misleading.
Symptoms: Creates extra work for staff and volunteers. It also degrades relations with patrons as there may be the perception of concealment.
