Subject: Salmon Arm SPCA-Deborah Wold
Are you, a member of the B.O.D. aware that the manager of the Salmon Arm SPCA, Deborah Wold (and her husband) are breeders of Shih-Tzu's, Dobermans, Miniature horses, and Tennessee Walking Horses? Someone that advertises not only in their hometown papers but also other provinces obviously has alot of pups and adults to sell. Which she does, regularly. This person can be, and is considered a puppy miller. In the Vernon newspaper, a few days back she advertised a 2 yr. old and 4 female Shih-Tzu, 2-7 yrs. old as a "kennel reduction-for sale as a package". No-one can tell me this is'nt a puppy mill.
It is astonishing and extremely distressing to me to learn that this manager, who goes against the SPCA's principles of promoting spaying and neutering, and the BC SPCA Policy Statement #19-Surgical Mutilation " Other unnecessary surgical procedures done purely for cosmetic purposes, or to disguise natural imperfections of any animal, that are painful, distressful, or restrictive of the function of the body part involved cannot be condoned". is actually employed by the BCSPCA. It simply does'nt make sense! Ear cropping and Tail-docking are considered cosmetic purposes. I know you would'nt disagree with that.
This type of information can only hurt the SPCA. Can you not see that? It makes one wonder how many other branch managers, etc, are breeders of animals. I cannot and will not hide my total disgust with this knowledge.
I look forward to a response.
