AAS is aware of the SPCA's penchant for using fear to silence criticism, if ignoring doesn't first work.
When AAS put all its evidence of fifty years of SPCA self-serving and animal-ignoring on our web site (we were forced to build the web site after the SPCA's media friends scorned to acknowledge it in any way) the SPCA hired a QC from the law firm of Owen Bird to threaten us with personal ruin if we didn't remove it.
AAS refused, and posted even more evidence, of SPCA cruelty TO animals, some so ugly that even we have a hard time reading it still.
The SPCA blinked! And announced it would not be suing AAS after all and would reform, as we had demanded.
AAS said we would watch the process of reform and if it was real we would temper our web site and we would support honest efforts to become what donators thought they were donating to.
So far the BC SPCA has stumbled from one policy and executive disaster to another, all because the SPCA is still chosing p.r. over substance, just as it always has.
