To Michael Steven, President
And the Board of Directors, BC SPCA
Thank-you for taking the time to sit on the Board of Directors of the BC SPCA. I understand that the BC SPCA is considering taking a more active role in advocacy in the province, and I applaud you for that.
I strongly believe that it is appropriate for the SPCA to advocate for control of breeding laws. Such laws exist in other jurisdictions (see, for example, the new law in New York State: http://www.aspca.org/site/News2?page=NewsArticle&id=8388&news_iv_ctrl=-1). Our own local Animal Advocates Society has a sample law on their website (http://www.animaladvocates.com/too-many-dogs.htm) that I believe is workable.
Please add a discussion on control of breeding laws to the agenda for the upcoming meeting. I would be particularly interested in the outcome of that discussion, and look forward to receiving a reply from you.
Sincerely,
Joann U. Bessler
