There must be some reason that a person phoning for money wouldn't know what a puppymill is. Certainly if the BCSPCA was using their own volunteers, they would know.
I know that a number of charities are now using companies to solicit funds. While they claw back (up to 50%)a high percentage of the "take" as their fee, many charities have chosen this route rather than use volunteers who aren't used to asking for money.
They usually set up a large room with lots of bullpens, a chair and a little desk with a phone on top. The person calling uses a rehearsed script which starts just after you answer the phone and say "Hello".
Does anyone know if they are using one of these companies to fill the kitty?
