I supported the SPCA for over 30 years, and stopped abruptly when I read in
the Vancouver papers about the salary that was paid to management, when the
pounds where I have got all my "disposable to be put down" cats, have
been in dire need of new equipment and more space.
I was horrified by the lack of conscience shown by your management, but
possibly they don't believe that God made 2 covenants with His creatures and
man will answer for the violation of those covenants on judgement day.
Whether your people believe in God or not is in a way by the by, for it is
the truth and you will know it when your time to answer comes.
Now to know that again after reading that you will straighten out your
policies in a watered down version of the original need, you still don't
have the power to check the people who you hire. The information on this
manager is definately against your policies and though she/he has made
deliberate use of you and vice versa, again it is the animals that suffer.
Would the people she sells to go and have their faces cut up so that they
look better to the people on the street who have to see them. No, definately
not, but then they don't have to feel the pain of the animals, and pride of
ownership is more important than the heart of ownership.
Please find the courage and integrity to clean out your management and your
whole organization, remember in this day and age of instant communication,
you can no longer hide behind closed doors. You are in the face of everyone
who would denounce and rightly so the practices you grow rich on.
May you someday be able to have a night's peaceful sleep and face yourself
in the mirror in the morning and know that you have not hurt another animal
but helped them instead, that your hypocrisy is a thing of the past.
