We should not allow these 'killing machines' to roam our streets

Dogs that badly mauled a 14-year-old girl are locked up at the city pound. Readers say vicious dogs should be illegal.
It is time to change the law and make it a crime to allow dogs, which can turn into killing machines, to roam the streets unleashed.
Too many dog owners are making a habit of opening the door late at night and letting the dog go for its own walk.
These irresponsible dog owners should be forced to pay all damage -- including the medical cost which is now paid by taxpayers -- resulting from any attacks.
I do not know why some people want to own these kinds of dangerous dogs, which are bred for no other purpose than to attack people or other animals.
It is time to make it illegal to own, sell or purchase any of them.
In this modern day and crowded society, there is just no room for any of them.
