Last night, on BCTV, Vancouver Councillor Tim Louis praised our report "IT'S TIME!", calling it "excellent" and saying that the new COPE dominated council is going to act on it.
Councillor Louis was always most supportive of AAS aims and concerns for suffering dogs in Vancouver and it was Councillor Fred Bass who expressed scepticism at City staff's assertion that the SPCA was going to "take care of this".
With only a few notable exceptions, the former City council expressed disgust at the treatment of dogs that our report showed, but City legal and City Services staff gave councillors, what we believe, was the bad advice to avoid the expense of paying its Animal Control Officers to enforce a humane bylaw by saying that the SPCA was going to "take care of it".
