I am thrilled that you had Animal Advocates on your program (January 2/03). I am a long-time volunteer with dogs, and have worked with the SPCA and the Vancouver City Pound. Not socializing dogs is a total recipe for disaster. If you live with a dog you know what pack animals they are (your dog is always at your side).

I hold the City and the SPCA totally responsible for the recent dog mauling...they know darn well that putting dogs on a tether, isolating them in backyards and not having any by-laws to stop this can cause a dog to bite. I have read books by Jean Donaldson and seen a video on dog biting by Dr. Ian Dunbar who repeatedly say the same thing..having unsocialized domestic dogs in isolation is dangerous.

The SPCA can come up with every excuse in the world...I continue to hold them responsible! I am so glad that Animal Advocates is getting the word out...I certainly agree!!
